Ploughing at Llanfair Caereinion

The Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway was built to serve the agricultural communities to the west of Welshpool (unlike many narrow gauge railways that were built to carry minerals from mines and quarries to ports or mainline railways). Farming is still important in the area and in these views the field across the road from the station is being ploughed. The picture do not really illustrate quite how steep that field really is. The tractor could only plough in the downhill direction.
