On 1/11/06 a short works train consisting of Chattenden and a solitary ballast wagon
trundles round the sharp Mill Curves, at the obigatory 5mph, on its way back to Llanfair.
To the left is the old mill - the derelict machinery can still be glimpsed through the doorway.
The house is now a holiday let. To the right is the River Banwy a tributary of the River Severn

Crossing the River Banwy near Heniarth. The line crosses the river on a three span girder bridge. In this view we are looking downstream. This is a popular fishing spot. The most usual fishermen seen are herons but from time to time a cormorant can be observed.

The train is approaching Dirty Lane en-route to Llanfair . A farm lane crosses the line but meeting any traffic here is rare event. The engine whistles and carries on without faltering.

On 4/7/08 a Mercedes left the A458 trunk road, crashed through the hedge, dropped on the railway, bounced across the track and carried on into the woods.
Thankfully the driver was not badly hurt !

Golfa Bank
WLLR Inside the cab of The Resita

This picture, taken on 28/3/08, does not actually belong on this page since the view is of the inside of the cab. This was Del's first trip on "The Resita" and your web host had gone along as "conductor" to provide advice and guidance as required. This picture was taken as we slogged up the notorious reverse curves on the Golfa Bank.

Welshpool Station
WLLR shunting at Welshpool

A complex shunting operation is taking place at Welshpool. The diesel locomotive, Chattenden, is sandwiched in the middle of a rake of wagons laden with track materials. This is delaying the departure of the passenger train headed by The Countess.
